“Selfcare is to cherish yourself, placing on value your own physical and emotional wellness”
Women are busy people, we spend time and energy caring for others, but rarely give our ‘selfcare’ the same thought.
Selfcare might sound like a ‘buzz’ word but really simply means the taking the time to cherishing yourself, valuing your own health and wellness and having the awareness to look after your physical and emotional wellness.
Our bodies are incredible, they will keep going, and giving, and coping to take us through all life has to throw at us, but our bodies can’t do that continuously. Our body needs rest and relaxation, and when the body doesn’t get what it needs, it will let us know, so that we can make essential changes. It is our responsibility to look after ourselves and to ‘listen’ and respond to our body.
It could be a niggle, an ache, a change in sensation …..but we do need to listen. It is our bodies way of saying something is wrong.
We need to be more comfortable about giving ourselves permission to take a little time. It feels good to calm things down and nurture our own wellness, and we deserve that.
When we ‘listen’ to how our body is feeling we develop a general feeling of deeper awareness that trickles beyond the practice of selfcare itself, and into our everyday behaviour and mood.
Regular practice calms down our systems, and can have a positive effect on hormonal balance, reduce pain, improve sleep, stabilise mood, encourage fat burning, promote confidence and self acceptance as well as bring joy to our hearts. That is not only good for us, it is good for those around us.
