Sammie McFarland – Award Winning Women’s Wellness Coach
Sammie is an award winning Women’s Wellness Coach, Holistic Core Restore® coach and Dorchesters leading Pre and Postnatal expert.
Sammie fell in love with Pilates after experiencing back pain with her second pregnancy and has now been coaching for 10 years. Having previously worked as a Maternity Nurse and Breast Feeding Consultant it was a natural progression to become a Pre & Postnatal Pilates Fit Pro. Sammie also offers Pre and Postnatal Sports Massage, these skills enable a true depth of knowledge in every movement session.
Sammie believes in offering inclusive, friendly classes and draws on all her skill sets in every session. She approaches each movement mindfully, enabling true body awareness. Classes are modified for clients attending, effective, & delivered with sprinkling of fun.
Lisa Butler – Motherhood Transitional Coach
Lisa is a women’s exercise coach who has a special interest in supporting Mums as they navigate through their journey through Motherhood
Having faced her own physical and emotional challenges after the birth of her children, she retrained as a Holistic Core Restore® coach in 2014 after retiring from the British Army. Lisa has a special interest in mindset and is a Neuro-Linguistic Coach and Hypnotherapy practitioner. She also loves her role as a massage therapist and blends these skills to ensure that her clients are seen, heard and challenged!
Saira Francis – Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher
Saira is a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher and Holistic Therapist, she also runs yoga retreats here in Dorset and abroad. She has been working with therapies since 2004 and began her journey with healing when she faced the challenge of being a single mother to her 3 children for 14 years. She is convinced that yoga and holistic therapies saved her sanity on many occasions!
Her yoga retreats have won multiple awards in recent years and she is on her own quiet and gentle mission to help her clients heal, find peace, recover from trauma and grief, as well as simply relax and find sacred space to unwind and get away from the busy-ness of life, whether it be on the mat or on the massage couch.
Sue Ely – Mindfulness Coach
Having personally adopted and studied mindfulness over 12 years, Sue is passionate about the changes it can bring to today’s busy life.
She turned to Mindfulness at a very difficult time in her life, or rather Mindfulness found her! Sue has learnt to manage her worries in a different way, rather than let them consume her, she became calmer and far more efficient, engaging more fully with her life, rather than spending her life in her head! Sue has continued to practice and study ever since and with the amazing changes Mindfulness gave her life she is passionate about bringing it to others.
Fifteen years ago Sue qualified as a counsellor and since then has worked with both young people and adults in many different settings, including her own private practice. For the last 10 years she has been undertaking training for Mindfulness, starting with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), she continues training with MiSP – Mindfulness in Schools Programme, both, to teach mindfulness to young people (11-18) and Foundation which enables her to teach adults and staff. More recently she took a course in mindfulness, kindness and compassion. She also completed her training with Bangor University to teach MBSR. She has now left her counselling practice behind to concentrate fully on teaching Mindfulness, which she is truly passionate about, having experienced firsthand the amazing changes in both her own and other’s lives. She continues to study and attend retreats.
Victoria Boast – Yoga Instructor
Since Victoria tried her first yoga class over 10 years ago, she was hooked – not only impressed by how quickly her strength and flexibility developed, but also how happy a regular practice made her feel.
During her 3 years living in Shanghai, this passion further developed and soon Victoria was qualified with a 200RYT certification in Therapeutic Alignment Vinyasa (TAV).
Inspired by many styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Ashtanga and Iyengar, Victoria’s classes, workshops and courses are fresh, fun and full of variety.
Victoria is a motivating teacher who helps her students deeply connect with themselves so that they can become more self-aware and get the most out of their practice. She encourages her students to focus on the journey towards their goals rather than shortcutting to the goal itself. Her aim is making sure her students feel great after a class and come back wanting more.
Mel Mitchell – Fitness Coach and Sports Massage Therapist
From suffering with a bad back on a regular basis and from all the aches and pains of daily life, Mel found the benefits of regular massage. Massage became part of her self care. She wanted to help, not only fellow athletes but also those with everyday aches and pains and now offers Soft Tissue Therapy/Sports Massage which is beneficial to all and helps with those everyday aches and pains as well as sports related injuries.
Lucy Ruddle – Lactation Consultant
Lucy is an IBCLC. Her passion in life is to support families with feeding their babies. She does this with a unique combination of clinical skills, counselling, empathy, and warmth, as well as personal and professional experience.
Many people want to know what exactly an IBCLC is! It stands for international board certified lactation consultant, and it’s recognised around the world as being the highest infant feeding qualification. IBCLCs know things about breastfeeding and breastmilk that most people haven’t even heard of!
Lucy is highly skilled, and able to help with the full range of problems from sore nipples to drugs in Breastmilk, stopping breastfeeding, and even tandem feeding. Jo Thompson – Dance Instructor
Jo is a Dance Fitness instructor and has an infectious uplifting energy that motivates clients to move. Dance Fitness was the perfect career choice for Jo as her professional dance career spans 25 years. SlimDance has been Dorchester’s signature dance fitness class for over 9 years and remains as popular as ever. Jo warmly welcomes new class members to her fun and energising classes.
Cath Short – Dance Instructor
Cath is an ex-professional dancer turned personal trainer and nutrition coach. Over the years she has taught everything from aerobics to Zumba, from PureStretch to Bootcamp. Currently she works in Dorchester with clients 1-2-1 with a focus on weight-loss and functional fitness. She has recently attained a certificate in Exercise for Older Adults to help build on her personal training expertise.
Although she hung up her sparkly show shoes some years ago Cath continues to share her passion for dance and is thrilled to bring this exciting new class to Dorchester. “I want to incorporate everything I know instinctively as a dancer and all the knowledge I have gained as a trainer and health coach to enable people to grow and glow, physically and mentally.” Cath lives and breathes the healthy lifestyle that she advocates, and makes it her life’s work to encourage every client, friend and relative to do the same.
Emily Garrod-Cox – Aerial Circus
Emily fell in love with aerial circus in 2012 and has been a flat out addict ever since. She started secret circus 5 years ago and hasn’t looked back!
She has a background in gymnastics and rock climbing and just can’t get enough of being upside down.

Lyndsey Pidgeon – Midwife and Birth dancer
Lyndsey is a newly qualified midwife, mother of three and has been a hobby and performing belly dancer for 11 years. She finds freedom and relaxation in music and movement and love to share this with anyone who shows an interest! Birth Dance is an ancient skill that has been passed from generation to generation through women, in order to prepare for and recover from birth and is the foundation upon which modern belly dance was built. She passionate about the power of the female body and about women feeling body confident, finding connection with themselves, with others and in giving them a space to feel safe to build those foundations. Lyndsey is incredibly excited to have the opportunity to support physiological birth using both ancient skills in movement and body consciousness, alongside her modern skills and experience as a midwife!
Mary-Clare Buckle – Calm Family Consultant
Mary-Clare Buckle lives in Abbotsbury with her husband Andrew and her home-educated twin boys. Mary has studied and practiced natural healing and good nutrition for about 30 years. She has been helping parents with birth, parenting and slings for about 20 years. She has a run a home birth support group, she helped start the first Doula Birth companion courses in the UK and has trained with La Leche League in Breastfeeding support and with Calm Family as a BabyCalm Consultant. She runs West Dorset Slings with Shona Hale and is trained as a sling/baby carrier Consultant with ‘School of Babywearing’.
Mary’s pre and post natal classes are all about offering reassurance, informing, hopefully enriching and supporting families through this emotional and transitional time, helping you to understand your baby and why they behave as they do.
Mary-Clare wants to help enable you as parents – and prospective parents – to look forward to having children, and for you to have as joyful and relaxing a life with your baby as is possible. She looks forward to meeting you in classes!
Georgina McBurney – Reiki Teacher/Master, Psycho-spiritual Counsellor, Equine Facilitated Practitioner
Georgie has had careers in the Army, Police and Education (both teaching and creating courses). She was a kinship foster carer becoming a finalist for Influential Woman of the Year (Venus, Dorset) in recognition for supporting her niece through sudden paralysis to recovery. She has a BSc in Animal Science, and her health and well-being business for animals naturally extended to owners when she discovered how connected we all are. Georgie is now a Reiki Teacher/Master, Equine Facilitated Practitioner and Counsellor, specialising in psycho-spiritual counselling. In her spare time she likes to paint and write.

Claire is the founder of Forest Yogi Minds which incorporates children’s yoga and mindfulness with an element of forest schools which is nature based learning brings nature inside by incorporating children’s yoga and mindfulness with an element of forest school to promote calm and wellbeing. Having worked with children for 25 years Clare felt a need to address the whole child and provide life skills that help across all elements of life. Clare is passionate about providing yoga and mindfulness experiences for children and their families to support growth, connection and enjoyment. As a primary teacher with 15 years experience Claire provides life skills within a fun session that makes people smile.

Sian is a children’s coach passionate about the emotional health & physical well-being of children. She has always had a keen interest in holistic treatments trained in reiki and Indian head massage but found her calling when she discovered Relax Kids for own family. Her classes have expanded from just weekly hourly group sessions, and she is now working 1:1 with children in the family home, in schools, with charities, and within the home education sector.

Katy Howell – Creche Leader
Katy is our creche leader and is looking forward to meeting your little ones. She enjoys working with children and babies and has been working in local schools ,and within childcare, for many years since becoming a mother. Through her work in schools Katy is trained in safeguarding, qualified in first aid, has a full DBS check, she also has retail management experience and is used to working within a team. Katy offers a high standard of care, and is especially interested in working with pre school children. She is a keen dancer and a truly warm-natured soul.
